KPCT VEHICLE EXTRACTIONS

Practical Vehicle Extraction Training for Law Enforcement

Vehicle contacts are among the most common law enforcement activities and among the most dangerous.

Whether during a traffic stop, criminal investigation, warrant service, or patrol encounter, officers may be required to

remove occupants from vehicles under rapidly changing circumstances. Subjects may be compliant, passively resistant,

actively resistant, impaired, emotionally disturbed, or attempting to gain access to a weapon.

The confined environment of a vehicle creates unique challenges that are not addressed by many traditional defensive tactics programs.

The KPCT Vehicle Extractions Program was developed to provide officers with practical methods for safely removing and controlling vehicle occupants while emphasizing officer safety, team tactics, sound decision-making, and lawful use of force.

TRAINING PHILOSOPHY

KPCT Vehicle Extractions is built upon four principles:

Officer Safety

Maintaining positions of tactical advantage and reducing unnecessary exposure to threats.

Team Coordination

Using clearly defined officer responsibilities and effective communication.

Control

Establishing control of the subject as early as possible during the encounter.

Simplicity

Employing tactics that can be performed under stress using gross motor movements and sound body mechanics.

The focus is not on complicated techniques. The focus is on practical tactics that officers can realistically apply in the field.
